What We Do

Building Skills. Growing Confidence. Creating Leaders.

Mentor To Lead combines literacy, mentorship, leadership development, practical skills and community-based opportunities to help girls and young women learn, grow and participate with confidence.

Literacy is the foundation. Opportunity is the destination.
Our Approach

More Than Access to Education.

The Beposo pilot reinforced a simple idea that shapes our programmes: girls benefit most when learning is connected to sustained mentorship, practical skills, confidence, leadership and exposure to new possibilities.

Our programme model supports girls and young women aged 10–24 in underserved communities through experiences that strengthen learning and help them make informed choices about education, work, leadership and life.

The Mentor To Lead Pathway

From Learning to Leadership.

Our programme areas work as one connected journey. Each stage builds on the previous one so girls move from stronger learning foundations to confidence, practical readiness, opportunity and meaningful community impact.

01

Literacy & Learning

Girls strengthen reading, comprehension, communication and lifelong learning habits that form the foundation for every other programme area.

Reading confidence Comprehension & expression Curiosity for continued learning
Builds: the knowledge base girls need to participate, ask questions and make informed choices.
02

Structured Mentorship

Positive role models provide consistent guidance, encouragement and a trusted space for girls to reflect on school, relationships, goals and the future.

Trusted guidance Self-worth & confidence Goal setting and reflection
Builds: belief, direction and the support system needed to turn learning into personal growth.
03

Practical Skills

Girls connect learning to real life through digital literacy, online safety, career exploration, entrepreneurship and future-ready personal development.

Digital literacy Career awareness Education, work & life readiness
Builds: practical capability and wider awareness of the pathways available beyond the classroom.
04

Leadership Development

Girls practise speaking up, making decisions, working with others and seeing themselves as people who can influence positive change.

05

Exposure & Opportunity

Mentor To Lead helps girls encounter new careers, technologies, networks, experiences and possibilities that may otherwise remain outside their reach.

Career exposure New networks & role models Broader future possibilities
Builds: access and informed ambition so girls can identify and pursue realistic next steps.
06

Impact & Changemaking

The journey comes full circle when girls apply what they have learned, support peers, solve local challenges and grow into mentors and changemakers themselves.

Community participation Peer influence & mentorship Action on real challenges
Builds: lasting impact as girls use their knowledge, skills and leadership to create value beyond themselves.
Learning From Beposo

A Programme Model Shaped by Real Experience.

The initial pilot with 15 girls in upper primary school in Beposo combined literacy and book-based mentorship with digital literacy, online safety awareness, career exploration, healthy relationship education, self-worth, leadership development, exposure to Artificial Intelligence and robotics, and Girl Child Day activities.

That experience helped demonstrate why Mentor To Lead connects learning with mentorship, practical skills, confidence and exposure rather than treating each as a separate intervention.
